Grilled French Toast Sandwiches

Grilled French Toast Sandwiches

                           These breakfast sandwiches are good for lunch or dinner too. 

4 ounces cream cheese, softened
6 slices of peasant bread (sourdough, boule, Italian)
1/4 cup marmalade
3 slices of ham
2 eggs
2 tablespoons milk
Salt & pepper

Spread the cream cheese over three slices of bread.  Spread the marmalade over the other 3 slices of bread.  Place the ham on top of the cream cheese and make a sandwich, topping with the marmalade sliced bread.  In a small bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk and salt and pepper to taste.  Dip both sides of the sandwich into the egg mixture and place in a warm skillet lightly greased with olive oil.   Toast 3 minutes per side, or until golden brown.  Remove the sandwich and repeat with the remaining two sandwiches.  Cut the sandwiches in half and serve warm.  Serves 6.
