New twist on brownies: Fudge Crackles

Fudge Crackles

This brownie based cookie is crisp on the edges and chewy in the center.  And it packs well, making it the perfect picnic / tailgate cookie.  The Fudge Crackle also freezes nicely, so you can bake them ahead of time for your next event.

1 brownie mix (13 X 9)
1 cup flour
1 egg
½ cup water
¼ cup oil
1 cup (6 ounces) chocolate chips
¾ cup nuts
Powdered sugar

In a large mixing bowl, beat together the brownie mix, flour, egg, water and oil.  Stir in the chocolate chips and nuts. Refrigerate the dough for about 30 minutes, until it is easier to handle. In a small bowl, spoon in a ½ cup of powdered sugar. Drop a tablespoon of cookie dough into the powdered sugar and roll into a ball.  Place the cookie balls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.  Bake 350 for 8 – 10 minutes.  Yields 3 ½ dozen cookies.
